First Place for Video News Series (2016) - A string of graffitied hate speech against the LGBTQ community appeared outside high schools in the Tri-Cities, sparking debate on social media. Galen was the only reporter in the market to follow the story and give voice to LGBTQ students.

Runner Up for Investigative Video Report (2016) - Washington state considered stronger rules for dairy farms, so KAPP-KVEW dove into what that would mean for the local multibillion dollar industry and why environmentalists were pushing for even stricter protections.
